Overview
This article provides steps to troubleshoot and resolve issues where your screen recording and audio are out of sync. This can be caused by a few different factors, including system performance, and specific software settings.
Who this affects
All users of the desktop app.
Troubleshooting Steps
Follow these steps to diagnose and fix audio sync problems in your recordings.
1. Check for System Resource Overload
High CPU or memory usage can cause delays in video and audio processing, leading to sync issues. Before you start recording, close any unnecessary applications to free up system resources.
On Windows: Use the Task Manager (right-click the Taskbar and select "Task Manager") to identify and close resource-intensive processes.
On macOS: Use the Activity Monitor (Applications > Utilities > Activity Monitor) to do the same.
2. Match Frame Rates
If you are using external cameras or other recording devices, a mismatch between the frame rate of your screen recording and the frame rate of your camera can cause the two to drift out of sync over time.
Ensure that the frame rate settings are consistent across all recording inputs. Standard frame rates are typically 30 or 60 FPS (frames per second).
3. Test in a Clean Profile
Browser extensions or corrupted profile settings can sometimes interfere with recording. Try creating a new, "clean" browser profile with no extensions and see if the sync issue persists.
4. Check for Outdated Drivers
Outdated graphics and audio drivers can lead to performance issues, including sync problems.
Windows users: Visit the manufacturer's website (e.g., NVIDIA, AMD, Intel) to download and install the latest graphics drivers.
macOS users: Graphics drivers are updated automatically with macOS updates. Ensure your operating system is up to date by going to System Settings > General > Software Update.
5. Isolate the Issue: Preview vs. Export
To help us diagnose the problem, it's useful to know where the delay is happening.
Does the audio and video appear out of sync in the preview window while you are recording?
Or does the issue only appear in the final, exported video?
If the sync issue is present in the preview, it's likely a real-time performance issue. If it only appears in the export, it could be a problem with the video rendering process.

Getting Help
If you've tried all of these steps and are still experiencing audio sync issues, please contact our support team. To help us resolve your issue as quickly as possible, please include the following information in your support request:
A detailed description of the issue (e.g., "the audio is 5 seconds behind the video").
Information on whether the delay occurs in the preview, the exported video, or both.
Your computer's specifications (CPU, RAM, GPU).
A copy of your recording logs, if possible.
